Cold war between SJB’s Kiriella and Wasantha Yapa

The conflict between the Kandy District MP Lakshman Kiriella and Wasantha Yapa Bandara, who joined Samagi Jana Sandhanaya (SJS) from Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), started based on a statement made by Kandy District Leader of Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), Lakshman Kiriella, stating he will not be able to give a chance to Wasantha Yapa Bandara to contest from Kandy District in a General Election, is getting worse.

Supporters of Wasantha Yapa Bandara claim that this conflict is evident from the fact that Lakshman Kiriella deliberately didn’t allow Wasantha Yapa Bandara to address the people at a Kandy rally, despite Wasantha Yapa Bandara attending various rallies around the country to support Sajith Premadasa.

The problem escalated to the point where people questioned Kiriella for not allowing any other speeches by seat organizers at the Kandy rally, which he organized. Instead, Kiriella gave a chance on a speech to his daughter, a novice in politics. Additionally, there are reports that Kiriella is planning to have his daughter contest from the Kandy district in the upcoming general election.

Furthermore, Kiriella did not take any action to impose a seat on some seat organizers but took steps to give a seat to his daughter next to Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa.
