Collective effort to address climate change impact in SL – Caucus Co-Chairs
The first meeting to re-establish the Caucus on Climate for the Tenth Parliament was held last week. Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and Prof. L. M. Abeywickrama from Jathika Jana Balawegaya were elected as the Co-Chairs of the Caucus.
The Co-Chairs stated that at a time when global attention is focused on climate change, they aim to collectively discuss the impacts of climate change on Sri Lanka and the steps to be taken in response, with a view to implementing future action plans.
Nalin Bandara of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya and Asitha Niroshana Egoda Vithana of the Jathika Jana Balawegaya were elected as the Deputy Co-Chairs of the Caucus. Rohini Kumari Wijerathna of Samagi Jana Balawegaya and Anushka Thilakarathne of the Jathika Jana Balawegaya were elected as the Co-Conveners of the Caucus.
