Commander’s Cup Golf from January 19

The Commander’s Cup Golf Tournament hosted by the Sri Lanka Air Force will be held at the spectacular Eagles’ Golf Links and Courses (AFEGLC) in China Bay, Trincomalee, from January 19 to 21.

This will be the 11th edition of the tournament, which commenced in 2013, and this event is being held under the guidance of the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa.

This will be a premier event in the golfing calendar and all arrangements are finalised for this three day event said Air Force Commencer Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa.This tournament is sponsored by the Dialog Enterprise.

The Group Chief Officer of Dialog Enterprise, Navin Peiris, said, “We are privileged to partner with the Sri Lanka Air Force for the fourth consecutive year to conduct this tournament at the picturesque Eagles’ Golf Links, Trincomalee.

Dialog Enterprise maintains a close bond with the sport of golf in Sri Lanka by sponsoring golf clubs and tournaments, partnering with golf development for children, supporting leading golfers on a national and international scale, and uplifting the livelihoods of communities.

More than 100 male and female golfers from across the country and around the world have signed up for the tournament.

The Eagles’ Challenge Trophy, which will be accorded to the top performer among serving members of the armed services, will be up for grabs in addition to the major trophy among the tri-forces golfers (both male and female). These distinguished trophies, along with other titles will be awarded during the Awards Ceremony Night, which will be held on January 20 and will be graced by the Commander of the SLAF, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa.

The Commander’s Cup brings together top-ranked golfers from Sri Lanka and provides players from the Tri-Forces, police and civilians with a unique opportunity to experience a challenging game of golf at a unique and beautiful golfing location.

As part of a strategic initiative to boost sports tourism, the SLAF has developed golf courses in key locations, including Anuradhapura, Koggala and China Bay.
