The Commercial Bank of Sri Lanka has donated 500 trees to the South Eastern University Sri Laka (SEUSL) Oluvil, as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project recently.
The initiative of planting 100,000 trees islandwide, themed ‘Nation Filled with Trees towards Sustainable Development’, took place at the University premises with the presence of the Vice Chancellor Rameez Aboobucker, staff and Commercial Bank Officers.
“Instead of planting trees to the trees being cut everywhere for different purposes, people used to keep away from planting a new tree to the place where it was cut. We have a great responsibility to protect the environment and hand it over to the next generation with sustainability” Vice Chancellor said.
“Awareness on the importance of protecting the trees and natural resources should be conducted to the people of all the country. Today we have to face a lot of challenges due to the continuous deforestation and wild fire that occurred in some parts of this beautiful island” said Vice Chancellor Rameez Aboobucker.
