Dr.Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India passed away in New Delhi on December 26.
As a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, seven-day State Mourning is being observed throughout India from December 26 to January 1, 2025.
A Condolence Book will be kept open at the High Commission of India located at 36-38, Galle Road, Colombo 3, from December 30 to January 1 2025 from 10 am to 3 pm.
Dr.Manmohan Singh served as the 13th Prime Minister of India from May 22, 2004 to May 26, 2014. As distinguished economist and visionary leader, Dr.Manmohan Singh served as the Finance Minister from 1991 and 1996 and guided the nation out of a financial crisis, introducing landmark economic reforms. Known for his humility, intellect, and dedication, Dr. Singh’s leadership and integrity continue to inspire generations, leaving a profound legacy of progress and service. Dr. Manmohan Singh was awarded India’s second highest civilian honour, the Padma Vibhushan in 1987.
