Consolidated Fund to release Rs. 5 Bn for General Election

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the action taken by the President, under the powers vested by him by Article 150(4) of the Constitution to release Rs. 5 Bn from the Consolidated Fund for 2024 to conduct the General Election on November 14, 2024, Cabinet Spokesman and Mass Media Minister Vijitha Herath said.

He was speaking to the media yesterday at the Government Information Department.

Minister Herath further said approval was also granted by the Cabinet of Ministers to allocate Rs.6 Bn for the additional expenses related to conducting the general election to be settled in year 2025 through the Vote on Account expected to be submitted to the Parliament for 2025.
