Constable who drowned in canal, promoted posthumously

The Police Constable ,who had jumped into the canal has been promoted posthumously.

Accordingly, Police Constable Krishnamurthy Piradapan (99033) 26, who was attached to the Ja-Ela Police Station, was posthumously promoted to the rank of Sergeant, Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said.

The incident happened when a suspect who was kept in a cell at the Ja-Ela Police Station was being prepared to be escorted to Court.

The 26-year-old Police Constable was reported missing on 23 November, when a suspect, being chased down by a group of police officers.
