Cops turn robbers in Rs.5 Mn probe

A special investigation has been commenced on the advise of Kegalle DIG Roshan Rajapaksa, against several Policemen said to have been  engaged in an investigation, in search of Rs.5 Mn, alleged to have been robbed from a business premises in Avissawella.

According to Police sources, substantial information has been gathered regarding this theft by now, by a special police team led by Kegalle ASP Pradeep Weerasekera.

Rs.5 Million that has been reported to have been robbed on May 26, when an employee of the said business center in Avissawella, when he was the way to deposit at a Bank.

This investigation has commenced as the result of DIG Roshan Rajapaksa receiving information that the investigating officers have swindled Rs.1 to 1.5 million from the stolen money and shared it among themselves without leaving any records of the money recovered from the apprehended suspect.

Investigation officers have found concrete information and the miscreant officers found responsible will face legal action against them.
