Country needs an independent intelligent person to rid it of this corrupt political culture – FM Sarath Fonseka
Presidential candidate Sarath Fonseka said that he left the Samagi Jana Balawega after the party opened the doors to thieves. “The SJB opened the doors for the thieves to join the party. I am unable to work with dignity in that party”, he said.
Presidential candidate Fonseka said that the executive powers of the President should not be abolished and a suitable person should be appointed to that position to remove thieves in Parliament and restructure the institutions dealing with corruption.
Fonseka said that the country has been engulfed by the corrupt political culture. “The country should be handed over to an independent and intelligent person who can get rid of this situation”, he said.
Fonseka said that even though the same groups reach people by creating different political parties, their mentality has not changed and they never think about the country or the future of the country.
He was speaking after participating in religious observances at the historical Ruwanweli Seya premises yesterday.
