Couple collecting money promising Dubai jobs arrested

The Rambukkana Police have arrested a couple who were collecting money by deceiving hundreds of  people all over the country stating that they would provide jobs in Dubai.

This couple was arrested in a raid conducted by the Rambukkana Police in Kegalle last Tuesday (13) night. The couple is residents of Rambukkana, Beligodapitiya named Nipuna Kavinda Udalagama and Chathusika Udalagama.

According to six complaints received by Rambukkana police, this couple had defrauded Rs.820,000. After knowing that the couple was arrested, 46 people had come to the Rambukkana Police Station yesterday (14) morning to file complaints against them, Police Media Spokesperson Nihal Thalduwa said. The police have instructed these people to go to the police station in the areas where they gave money to this suspect couple and file a complaint. In the investigation, it has been found that hundreds of people have deceived by this couple by showing them jobs in Dubai.

The police headquarters requests the public to go to the nearest police station and file a complaint if there are any more people who caught in this couple.

The couple has been remanded until the June 22 after being produced before the Kegalle Magistrate yesterday (14).
