Couple held for throwing newborn into drain

The Mulleriyawa Police has arrested a couple who threw their newborn baby into a drain in the Kelanimulla area. The police said the woman who gave birth to the child was taken to the hospital under Police protection.

The Police who investigated the incident after finding the infant’s body in the drain arrested the suspects. Police investigations have revealed that the child was delivered inside the house on Tuesday night.

Police say that the suspect couple are drug addicts.
