The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) says there will be no delays in receiving fuel stocks ordered up to April and May.
Addressing a media briefing today (01), CPC Chairman D.J. Rajakaruna stated that the relevant fuel shipments are scheduled to arrive from India and Singapore.
He further noted that the ongoing conflict situation in the Middle East will not disrupt Sri Lanka’s fuel supply.
It was stated that this assurance is being given with responsibility and that there is no need for the public to remain in queues. Although fuel distribution had not been scheduled for today (01), distribution activities were commenced after employees involved in fuel operations were called back to work due to increased public consumption. Fuel issuance has now begun, and supplies will continue tomorrow (02) as well, despite it being a Poya day.
Rajakaruna further stated that all filling stations have been instructed not to supply fuel into barrels, and warned that legal action would be taken against those attempting to purchase fuel in barrels for resale.
He said the current fuel stock levels are sufficient for several weeks, and there is no shortage. The fuel type-wise stock details are as follows:
• Petrol: sufficient for 37 days
• Diesel: sufficient for 35 days
• Super Diesel: sufficient for 72 days
• Aviation Fuel: sufficient for 47 days
