Crystal Palace FC, Gampola produced a splendid performance to beat Police SC 4-0 in their Champions League Football Tournament match played at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo.
This was easily Crystal Palace FC’s best performance in the tournament so far, as they completely dominated the game while scoring two goals during each half. The winners took the lead in the 30th minute through a superb goal from striker Mohamed Afnath who struck once again shortly before the interval to make it 2-0 at half time.
Crystal Palace FC maintained the same momentum after the turnaround and netted two more goals through Prem Kumar in the 52nd and 76th minute respectively. Meanwhile, Java Lane SC outplayed Super Sun FC 3-0 in another Champions League Football Tournament match played in Galle.
The significant feature in this game is that the winners scored all three goals in the first half through Tochokwu Francis, Malaka Perera and Oluwaseeun Olawale.
St. Mary’s SC edged out Pelicans FC 2-1 in another Champions League Football Tournament fixture played at the Duraiappa Stadium in Jaffna.
Olawale Oluwadamilare struck early for St. Mary’s SC in the 16th minute before Pelicans FC equalised in the 10th minute through a goal from Jekumar Shanthan. However, Sebamalainayagam Gnanaruban produced the match winning goal for St. Mary’s SC in the 74th minute of the game.
In contrast, Matara City Club routed Solid SC 6-0 in a completely one-sided contest at the Maligapitiya Grounds in Kurunegala.
Larbi Prince was outstanding with three goals while Boadu Prince struck twice and Navod Vihanga scored a goal for the winners.
