Customs portal to verify authenticity of legally imported vehicles

Sri Lanka Customs has introduced an innovative online portal designed to verify the authenticity of legally imported vehicles. This platform empowers the public to confirm vehicle legality by entering the chassis number into the portal.

The service, available at https://services.customs.gov.lk/vehicles, aims to mitigate the circulation of illegally imported vehicles in the country and foster transparency in the automotive market.

The portal offers wide coverage, including details of all motor vehicles imported after 2002 and all motorbikes imported after 2011.

It ensures ease of use, allowing vehicle buyers and sellers to conveniently verify the legality of vehicles before completing transactions, thereby preventing fraud by circulating only legally imported vehicles. If a vehicle’s chassis number is not found in the system, individuals can verify its legality by contacting Sri Lanka Customs and providing more details. Sri Lanka Customs encourages the public to utilise this service for secure and informed vehicle transactions.
