Damro to assist athletes and coaches

Sri Lanka Athletic (SLA) and Damro Holdings made a good partnership while athletes got benefit with receiving cash awards after achievement of the Asian Athletic championship.

Sri Lanka Athletic senior official said at this hard period the sponsorship from Damro very vital and they have agreed to give medal winners of the Asian Athletic championship and we conducted felicitation ceremony at the Marine Hotel, Colombo 5 on last Monday .

Each medal winners of the individual event received cash awards from Damro while they gave Rs.5.25 million for medal winners. In addition Damro came forward to give further 5 million rupees for athletes who are expected to take part at forthcoming Asian Games in China.

The sponsorship agreement was sign by Sri Lanka Athletic (SLA) President Rt Major General Palitha Fernando and Damro Company Chief Executive Committee Nalaka Gunatilleka.

Meanwhile, SLA senior official said there was miscommunication about Medal winning coaches and Daily News reported that coaches were neglected at their felicitation ceremony. Actually it was only athletes felicitation ceremony and already we have discussed with officials from both parties SLA and Damro to felicitate coaches as well and we never neglect coaches, he said.

We found sponsor Damro and discussed with them to what type of requirements for athletes and coaches needed and we have not finalized yet and give necessary arrangements for both athletes and coaches.

Damro already asked about requirements and they are happy to provide athletic shoes, Nutrition food allowance for athletes who will take part for Asian Games. We also discussed about requirements our coaches and everything will be finalized very soon added SLA senior official.

Meanwhile, SLA official said that Damro Company is very keen to give support to athletes and coaches. Recently Sri Lanka Athletic players received more medals at the International level while their aim is to get medals at Asian Games added senior official.
