Dates for Ramadan from Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia donated 50 tonnes of dates to Sri Lanka for distribution among mosques during the month of Holy Ramadan.

The donation was made by Saudi Ambassador in Colombo Khalid Humoud Al Kahtani to the Minister of. Buddhasasana , Religious and Cultural affairs, Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi yesterday (27) at the Embassy in the presence of a distinguished gathering.

Thanking Saudi Arabia for this gift of Dates, Minister Senevi said that the Muslim Religious and Cultural Department will share the Dates among 2,741 mosques in 25 Districts in the island, before the advent of the holy month .

Among those present were Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation, Bimal Rathnayake, Deputy Speaker Rizvi Saleh, Deputy Minister of National Integration, Muneer Mulaffer and Deputy Minister and Director of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs, M.S.M. Nawaz.
