The Development Lotteries Board, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ajith Gunarathna Naragala stated that in the year 2022, the Development Lotteries Board (DLB ) recorded the highest profit of rupees three billion. Thanks to the hard work and the commitment of all DLB Sales Agents in the Kalutara District.
He stated that the Kalutara District Sales Agents and Sub -Agents together with the District Agents tirelessly worked and devoted their full strength in selling lottery tickets, during the covid-19 pandemic. DLB Chairman addressing the Kalutara District DLB Sales Agents Felicitation ceremony ‘Sanwardhana Abhiman 2023’, held at Laya Beach Hotel, Wadduwa recently.
When the DLB recorded a profit of rupees 19 billion in 2022, ten billion was destributed among winners island-wide, ten billion was remitted to the State as Tax Money, while four billion was distributed to Sales Agents island-wide.
Naragala further stated that the cost of a DLB lottery ticket remains the same although the prices of raw materials and other expenses related to the printing of the DLB tickets has increased.
The Chairman also mentioned that DLB is heading for a new look with modern technology, the tickets would also be digitalized and the name ‘Development Lottery Board’ to be changed in accordance to the modern technological world which will be appropriate with the ideas of the younger generation.
Gunarathna highly appreciated and awarded the Sales Agents U.G. Ruwan Anuradha, R. Inoka Udayangani Ratnaweera and S.N. Udaya Kumara were appreciated awarded for their dedicated service and sales contribution marking a large profit in 2022.In addition eight more Sales Agents, representing several DS Divisions in the Kalutara District, were also awarded by the Chairman and Management of DLB.
Secretaries of several LG Institutes SSP of Panadura Police Kapila Premadasa, Wadduwa Police OIC and high ranking officials from the Kalutara District and Development Lotteries Board officials were present at the event.
