Development Officer arrested with eight trap guns

A Development Officer who is a non-academic staff member working at a school in Ambanpola has been arrested by the  Police with eight locally-made trap guns which are used for hunting animals.

According to the information received by the officers of Nikaweratiya Division Criminal Investigation Bureau, during the inspection of a house in Ambanpola, Ranoruva, the eight firearms were found hidden under a bed in the 45-year-old suspect’s house.

A senior Police officer said that the raid was conducted following information that the woman and her husband were selling game meat.
