Did infant die after vaccine jab?

The Kuliyapitiya Police have started an investigation regarding the death of a four-month-old infant who was a resident of Upper Gomugomuwa area of Kuliyapitiya due to developing an illness that occurred after a vaccine.

The infant died on July 16 morning after being admitted to the Kuliyapitiya hospital due to phlegm from the mouth and breathing difficulties.

The baby’s father complained to the Kuliyapitiya Police and stated that the child developed this illness after receiving the vaccine given to children by the Hettipola Health Medical Officer’s office on July 15. He has asked the police to investigate this matter.

In investigating this, it has been found that this vaccine has been given to many other infants. A Senior Police officer mentioned that a vaccine given to protect children from many diseases has been given to the babies and the rest of the babies have not developed such illnesses.

The post-mortem examination regarding the baby’s death was scheduled to be held at the Kurunegala Hospital. Kuliyapitiya SSP Neranjan Abeywardena said a clear conclusion can be reached regarding the death of the baby after conclusion of the post-mortem.
