Drug addict who hacked woman arrested

An incident where a drug addict had attacked a woman with a sharp machete due to a dispute with her father was reported from Piliyandala yesterday. Police said that the suspect had

been waiting with the machete until this woman arrived at Pelanwatte on the Piliyandala – Kottawa road.

Police said that the suspect had climbed a nearby communication tower and hidden following the attack. However police managed to bring him down from the tower and arrest.

The woman who was injured following the incident has been admitted to the Homagama hospital. Later she was transferred to the Colombo General Hospital for further treatment.
