Harak Kata’s lawyers say he has toothache:
Attorney Jaliya Samarasinghe who appeared on behalf of Salindu Malshika Gunaratne alias Kudu Salindu, filed a motion and requested Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage to ensure safety of his client yesterday (27). There is no threat to the suspect’s life.
The Magistrate inquired from the lawyer that the suspect already spent enough and more money.
The lawyer who answered said that the suspect’s money was running out. There is no money even to pay the lawyer’s fees. Therefore, the lawyer said that this request will be made.
The lawyer pointed out before the magistrate that his client had received threats from the Police officers and that there were two police officers on both sides and due to this reason there were problems in obtaining information.
“Today I am observing the two suspects. Magistrate Thilina Gamage said that after making an inquiry. The necessary orders will be issued.The suspect’s lawyer said that his client’s privileges have been violated and to provide the same facilities as other inmates to him as well”.
“Allow to keep some dry food items from home,” Samarasinghe, who filed the motion to request that permission be given to talk to his wife who is abroad on the home phone as well, lawyer Jaliya Samarasinghe also requested that his client, who was detained in the office for some time in the afternoon, is currently being held in the jail cell throughout the day and filed a motion in connection to that matter.
Also, the lawyers who represented Harak Kata filed a motion regarding him and presented the facts to Court.It is claimed that he has a problem with his tooth and the lawyers requested to make appropriate orders for it and to give necessary facilities to talk to him and get advice.
Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage went to the Criminal Investigation Department yesterday (27) at 1.45 pm to examine ‘Harak Kata’ and ‘Kudu Salidu’.The magistrate who examined them there for almost an hour left at 2.45 pm.
