Drunk Sergeant arrested for sexual assault

Katugastota Police has arrested a police sergeant who allegedly came home drunk and tried to abuse his eighteen-year-old daughter. After the suspect’s wife had gone to the Katugastota Police and lodged a complaint, the police conducted  investigations and arrested the suspect. He has been sent to the Kandy National Hospital for a medical examination. The police said that the daughter who was allegedly abused was referred to the Katugastota Base Hospital.

The 56-year-old suspect, who is attached to the Kandy Police Headquarters, is a resident of Katugastota, Kondadeniya.

It has been revealed that he was undergoing the training course for the position of Police Sergeant at Mahiyangana Police College. The mother has complained to the police that the suspect came drunk and tried to abuse her daughter while she was sleeping.

The Katugastota Police are investigating the incident.
