Duminda, Dayasiri in verbal duel

SLFP National Organizer Duminda Dissanayake in letter to SLFP Chairman and former President Maithripala Sirisena condemned the actions by SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekera.

He was of the view that his conduct as the SLFP General Secretary has deterred the party’s progress. He said that the SLFP General Secretary is in deliberate attempt to create divisions within the party.

The copies of this letter consisting eight pages have been sent to the Central Committee members and organizers of the party at district and electorate level by Dissanayake. Dissanayake had requested the party leader to refer the issues raised by him in his letter to the Central Committee and the politburo. Meanwhile, SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekera at a press conference yesterday said that MP Duminda Dissanayake was not aware of that what was happening within the Party during the past few months as he did not participate in the Central Committee or politburo meetings.

“The allegations mentioned in the letter are fabricated and Duminda Dissanayake voted with the government in parliament during the IMF vote,” he said.

Jayasekera added that the Duminda Dissanayake is neither in the Opposition nor Government. He is waiting for a ministerial portfolio, Jayasekera alleged.
