Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Air Scout Group organized the ‘Eagles’ International Challenge Hike 2023 at the Gampaha Pilikuththuwa mountain range area on Saturday (14) to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Air Scouting in Sri Lanka.
Air Scouting in Sri Lanka was started by the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) in 1972. Air Scouting is the largest Community Social Responsibility project of the SLAF since 1972. At present, the Sri Lanka Air Scout Group has eight Air Scout Troops and six Sub Air Scout Troops in several schools.
The Eagles’ International Challenge Hike was organized with the guidance of Air Force Commander Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa and successfully conducted by Group Captain Paminda Jayawardena, Chairman, Sri Lanka Air Force Air Scout Group and Group Captain (Dr.) Rajeev Pagoda, Secretary of the Sri Lanka Air Force Air Scout Group.
More than 600 boy and girl scouts participated in the challenge hike, representing scouts all over the island.
