Earth slip between Uduwara and Demodara disrupts Colombo Badulla train schedule

The Badulla railway station said that a mound of earth has fallen on the railway line between Uduwara and Demodara on the upcountry railway line yesterday the 14 inst.

It is said that this mound of earth had come loose and rolled down on to the railway tracks near the 176 km post due to the torrential rain experienced yesterday evening. It is reported that train number 1126 which was travelling from Kandy to Badulla had been stopped not far from where the earth slip had occurred.

Accordingly, the officer-in-charge of Badulla railway station said that there may be some delay in the night mail train scheduled to travel from Badulla to Colombo yesterday.
