EC to get tough on those not giving expenditure reports in 21 days
The Election Commission said legal action will be taken against all candidates, political parties and independent groups who do not handover their expenditure reports to the Election Commission within 21 days of the election as per the Election Expenditure Regulation Act.
8,888 candidates from various political parties and independent groups contested at the parliamentary General Election 2024.
The Election Commission, which says that it will take legal action against candidates who do not submit income reports on time, emphasises that the candidates should handover their assets and liabilities statements to the Commission as well.
The Commission also said that the expenditure report law will be implemented to create transparency in the electoral process and to prevent injustice to other candidates.
