Election Commission to meet on Wednesday (27), to finalise Local Government, Provincial Council Elections
The Election Commission (EC) is scheduled to conduct its next meeting on Wednesday (27), to discuss holding the Local Government (LG) and Provincial Council (PC) Elections, as per the Court order.
The financial requirement for the upcoming LG and PC elections are to be included in the interim standard account to be presented to Parliament.
Even though a decision has been taken to allocate funds for the two upcoming elections, a final decision has not been taken regarding the dates for holding the LG and PC elections as yet.
The EC is scheduled to take a decision on the dates for holding these two elections at this meeting. The EC has also informed political Parties who have not yet handed over the National List members to enter Parliament, to submit same as soon as possible.
One week’s time from the date of the gazette published on Sunday (17), with the names of the 196 members elected through public voting for the 10th Parliament has been given by the EC for the political Parties to submit their National Lists.
