Envoy discusses investment opportunities with DFC CEO

Ambassador Mahinda Samarasinghe met with the CEO of the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) Scott Nathan recently. Ambassador Samarasinghe, while thanking the CEO for offering finances of nearly US$ one billion towards Sri Lanka, discussed possible future collaboration in areas of refinancing commercial loans, projects on environment, economic and women empowerment and food security.

DFC recently invested US$ 553 million for the development of the West Container Terminal at the Colombo Port with support from the Adani Group and leading Sri Lankan blue chip company John Keells Holdings. This substantial investment will not only create an additional deep water terminal in the Colombo Port but would also generate significant employment opportunities and income generation activities.
