Equipment from communication tower at temple stolen

Giranegama Police stated that they started an investigation last Monday (26) to arrest the suspects who stole two air conditioners and a lightning conductor copper wire worth Rs. 350,000 that were installed in a communication tower in a temple. The Chief Incumbent of the temple stated that the suspects had entered the temple saying that they were from the telephone company and had come to install 4G technology on the telephone tower installed in the temple.

The police said that an employee of this private telephone company came to inspect the telephone tower at the Buduge Hinna Temple in the Giranegama Police domain last Monday (26) and the complaint was made after finding out that there were no devices installed at the base of the tower.

When the employee informed the Viharadhipathi of this, the Viharadhipathi said that on the morning of June 20 or 21, two persons came in a lorry, saying that they had come to install 4G technology on the tower and took some parts of the tower.

Giranegama Police officers are conducting further investigations to arrest the suspects involved in the incident.
