The EU Delegation issuing a statement stated that the campaign was launched on October 01, 2023 and will continue until November 10, 2023.

The “Let’s Go Green” campaign will include a series of competitions and awareness activities primarily aimed at school and university students encouraging them to debate and invent their own solutions to current issues around Sri Lanka’s environmental challenges. The campaign is also aimed at encouraging green behaviour among businesses and to bring the stakeholders from the private sector together in order to shed light on the importance of adopting circular business practices and integrating holistic solutions to reduce and minimize waste.

Green economic recovery is one of the top priorities for the European Union in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, having several related projects already implemented in both countries to support sustainable tourism, biodiversity protection and marine conservation.

These initiatives are carried out in the context of the European Green Deal which is a set of policy initiatives by the EU with the all-embracing aim of making planet earth greener.
