National People’s Power (NPP) Presidential Candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that he would bring life to the principle that “everyone is equal before the law” once he comes to power. He emphasised that Ministers, Members of Parliament, businessmen, and all citizens, regardless of their status, should be equal before the law and that no one should be above it.
Speaking further at a public meeting held on Wednesday (11) at the Wevelpitiya grounds in Mahaiyawa, Kandy, Dissanayake said that while strengthening the law on one side, the country’s economy should also be fortified. To achieve this, he underscored the importance of establishing robust international relations. He mentioned discussions with state leaders from several countries, including Japan, India, and China, to deliberate on various issues, including foreign policy under a future people’s government. He highlighted that a nation cannot progress in isolation and stressed the need to build strong diplomatic relations.
