Ex-principal of St.Anthony’s Girls’ School Kandy seeks anticipatory bail from HC

After the Additional Magistrate’s Court Kandy, rejected the expected bail application submitted by the former principal of St.Anthony’s Girls’ College, Katugastota requesting to prevent her arrest, her lawyers have submitted a revision application to the Kandy High Court regarding the said decision.

In the investigation conducted based on the complaint that 29 children had been admitted to the intermediate classes of St. Anthony’s Girls School using fake documents, it was revealed that the former principal P.K.R. Ranasinghe was also involved, and Police had named her as a suspect in the case.

Then the former principal, had requested an expected bail requesting that her arrest be prevented. It had been rejected by Kandy Additional Magistrate, Mohammed Rafi.

Later, she had submitted a relevant revision application to the Kandy High Court through her lawyers and the Attorney General’s Department had presented facts to court on August 23, on behalf of the Police, who had been named as the defendant.

The debate related to this, is scheduled to be held today (1) at the Kandy High Court, and on the instructions of Chief Inspector W. M.S.Uvindasiri, Police Sergeant Hettiarachchi is conducting further investigations into the incident.
