Field Marshal unhappy with Gen. Ratnayake’s entry to SJB

Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka has voiced his displeasure and dismay on the Opposition Leader and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Leader MP Sajith Premadasa over his move to accept former Army Commander, Retired General Daya Ratnayake’s support for the Party during a special media briefing held by him yesterday (31). Retired General Daya Ratnayake, who had worked in key positions during the tenure of former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, joined forces with the Samagi Jana Balawegaya this week.

Commenting on the matter, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka who is the present Chairman of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya mentioned that Daya Ratnayake had played a crucial part in his imprisonment under the tenure of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Stating that Daya Ratnayake was former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s close confidante, MP Sarath Fonseka further said that the SJB might as well join hands with the former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in the near future as he can also come forward saying that he’s a war hero.

He said that both Daya Ratnayake and former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had very similar opinions and attitudes and if this trend continues even the former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabral too can be taken into the party stating that he’s an economic specialist.

Fonseka added that these are people who were part of a failed government and those whom the people of this country have rejected and therefore embracing such people into the party is unethical that poses a big question mark on the credibility and reputation of the party and goes against the people’s mandate on SJB.
