The Railways Department announced yesterday that all day trains travelling from Colombo to Badulla and vice versa will be restricted to the Ella Railway Station for six days from today till October 15, from 9 am to 5 pm. due to the shooting of an Indo-Sri Lankan film in and around the famous Nine Arch Bridge at Ella and Demodara section.

Railways Deputy General Manager (DGM) N.J.Indipolage said that the film production company has deployed buses to transport passengers from Ella railway station to Badulla to remedy the inconvenience caused to passengers due to the closure of railway track between Ella and Demodara stations. He said that prior approval for the film shoot has been obtained from the Transport Ministry and the relevant company has already paid Rs.23 million to the Railway Department in this regard.

It has also kept a bond of Rs.48 million for any emergency. Since this film will be released in 18 languages, the historic nine arch bridge will gain a lot of attraction from worldwide tourists helping to further boost the Sri Lankan tourism industry which is the main advantage of this project. Since the biggest film crew is engaged in the screening of this film, the hotels, boutiques and lodges in and around the famous Nine Arch Bridge at Ella generate a lot of income these days.
