The first almsgiving to more than 120 members of the Maha Sangha after opening the Guru Devi Suwa Arana Bhikkhu Hospital at Kiriwaththuduwa, Homagama, was held under the patronage of Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana.
A delegation of Buddhists from Singapore who came to this country on the occasion of the Poson Pilgrimage season also participated in the programme under the guidance of the founder of the Maha Karuna Buddhist Organization in Singapore, Venerable Dr. Karadetiyana Gunarathana Nayaka Thera.
During the Poson week, the delegation will also perform meritorious deeds similar to the almsgiving, in Anuradhapura and Mihintale, and the delegation will also visit the Dharma Rashmi Poson Zone to be held in Homagama town.
More than 50 Buddhist delegates representing the Maha Karuna Buddhist Organization of Singapore attended this almsgiving offered to the Venerable Maha Sangha, headed by Venerable Papiliyagoda Gunawansa Nayaka Thera, Chief Incumbent of the Birmingham Jethawana Vihara in the UK.
