Five Policemen including the OIC of the Horowpothana Police Station yesterday tendered an apology as per Sinhala tradition to three individuals arrested over Easter Sunday attacks during a Supreme Court hearing.
The Attorney General also gave an undertaking before the Court that the three individuals will not be questioned again regarding this incident. Five Policemen tendered this apology to three petitioners as a part of the settlement reached between the parties with regard to the Fundamental Rights petitions filed by the petitioners challenging their illegal arrest and detention.
The Supreme Court’s three-judge bench comprised Justices S. Thurairaja, Kumuduni Wickremasinghe and Achala Wengappuli.
