Five Member Committee to conduct fresh postmortem

Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya yesterday appointed a Five Member Committee consisting of the Senior Lecturer and Specialist in Forensic Medicine Dr. Asela Mendis and   Judicial Medical Officer (Specialist) Dr. V. R. Ruwanpura, to perform a fresh postmortem inquiry into the death of Dinesh Schaffter, in order to ascertain whether the death was a murder or suicide. The Magistrate appointed this Committee when the magisterial inquiry into the death of Dinesh Schaffter was called before open court yesterday. The Magistrate further stated that the members of the medical expert committee were appointed based on their seniority in order to determine the cause of the death of the deceased.The Magistrate also ordered the Chief Registrar to handover all the documents pertaining to the case to the relevant committee. Further magisterial inquiry fixed for March 14.
