Foreign national arrested with cigarettes

An Indian who came to Sri Lanka was arrested with 300 cigarettes by a team of Wellaweediya Police officers last Monday (19).

The 36-year-old man was arrested at Newmore Street, Colombo 12. According to information received by the Police, the arrested man was a frequent visitor to the country and was a trader by profession. A senior officer of the Wellaweediya Police said that groups of Indians come to Sri Lanka with various goods and sell them and take goods from Sri Lanka.

The arrested suspect was also one such person. He came to Sri Lanka last Monday (19) evening and was to travel back to India, the following morning.
