Former MPs asked to hand over official public properties to Ministry

0 1

“In a circular to all former Ministers, State Ministers and Parliamentarians of the former Government have been requested today (27) to hand over the residences, bungalows, and other public properties that were under their personal use and management so far, as soon as possible to the Public Administration Ministry.

It is because a new General Election for 2024 has already been declared to be held on November 14, this year and hence, all Parliamentarians are bound by the law to give back all their Government-owned public properties without any shortage to be used for the next team of Parliamentarians who are to be elected from the forthcoming General Election.

Parliamentarians who were dwelling at the Madiwela Parliamentary housing complex too have been asked in writing to vacate the premises with their personal goods and properties as early as possible.

Hereafter, all Ministers and Parliamentarians of previous Government are not entitled to enjoy free facilities, food and other free medical treatments to them and their family members at the expense of public funds,” said Kurunegala District Senior Divisional Secretary (Administration) R. M. Jayaratne speaking at the meeting of the Grama Niladharies (GNs) of the Kurunegala District held at the Kurunegala District Youth Training Centre yesterday (27).
