A special Chinese trade delegation is visiting our country to discuss the purchase of spices such as pepper, cardamom, cloves, turmeric, cinnamon and other spices produced in Sri Lanka. Representatives of 42 companies belonging to China Spice Importers Association are participating in it. The delegation consisting of 50 people engaged in a discussion yesterday (21) with the officials of the Agriculture and Plantation Industry Ministry of regarding the spices produced in our country.
Agriculture State Minister Mohan de Silva, Ministry Secretary Janaka Dharmakeerthi and Chairman of Spices and Related Products Board Kumudini Gunasena participated in this discussion.The Chinese trade delegation coming to Sri Lanka is a delegation of 42 companies that sell spices in that country.
Those Chinese companies have been buying spices produced by the Spices and Allied Products Board for two years now. On the occasion of the completion of two years for these activities, the group has come to our country to see the spice production process in our country.
In the meeting held at the Agriculture and Plantation Industry Ministry on Thursday (21), the group who expressed their opinion regarding the spices of our country mentioned that the spices of Sri Lanka can be named as the highest spices in the world.
They said that steps should be taken to further raise the production quality of spices in our country and that their companies are ready to provide all support for that if necessary.
The delegation went to the main office of the Battaramulla Spices and Related Products Marketing Board on Thursday (21) and took steps to observe its main sales outlet.
