The investigating officers informed the court that an investigation has been initiated into the bank records and telephone records of the four suspects arrested in connection with this incident.

When the case was recalled yesterday, the Criminal Investigation Department informed the magistrate of this, giving details regarding the incident.

The investigating officers informed the court that steps have been taken to obtain the assistance of the Railway Department in the investigation activities carried out in connection with the incident.

The investigation officers also revealed that four suspects have been arrested in connection with an incident in which train tickets were instantly obtained and sold to foreign nationals at a higher price during the online seat reservation process conducted jointly with the Sri Lanka Railways Department and telecom companies.

The Chief Magistrate ordered the release of three suspects who were initially arrested and remanded in custody after they were produced before the court yesterday on two surety bonds of five hundred thousand rupees each.

Another suspect who was arrested on the 26th in connection with this incident was also produced before the court on the day before yesterday (27) and the Magistrate ordered that he also be released on bail.

The investigation officers revealed that the arrested individuals had fraudulently obtained online tickets for the ODC train running from Kandy to Ella and sold them to foreigners for an inflated price, and that they had carried out this racket by posing as tourist guides.

The Criminal Investigation Department has initiated these investigations based on a complaint filed by the Railways Department.

Four suspects, namely Pradeep Kariyawasam, Chaminda Kumara, Thilina Lakmal and Maduka Ashan, have been arrested and released on bail in connection with this incident.
