The Football Sri Lanka (FSL) organised 2022 Champions League Tournament has reached its climax with the decisive penultimate round of matches to be worked off in Colombo and in the outstations during the weekend.

The key match of this week will be the clash between the table leaders and top contenders for the title Matara City SC and Crystal Palace FC on Saturday at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy.

The unbeaten Matara City SC are well on course to lift the FSL Champions League and they could virtually seal the title in their favour with a match to spare if they could come out victorious against Crystal Palace FC.

Matara City SC will start the game brimming with confidence as they are currently lying on top of the Champions League points table having obtained a total of 31 points from their 11 outings, inclusive of 10 wins and one drawn encounter.

Their closest rivals Java Lane SC are very much out of the contest following last week’s setback as they remain in second place with a tally of 26 points from 11 matches, which includes eight wins, one defeat and two drawn fixtures.

Java Lane SC will have another chance to consolidate their position when they face their nearest rivals Serendib SC on Saturday at the Maligapitiya Grounds in Kurunegala.
