Former minister Udaya Gammanpila says the government was attempting to put him in jail on March 27 to prevent his book, revealing the mastermind of the 2019 Easter attacks, from being released on March 31.

Addressing the media today, Gammanpila said Cabinet Spokesman Nalinda Jayatissa had recently indicated that the book may not be released, as Gammanpila might be arrested before.

“It is evident from the minister’s statement that the government is making preparations to arrest me to prevent my book from being released,” he said.

Gammanpila was referring to comments by Minister Nalinda Jayatissa during last week’s government media briefing, where he responded to questions about Gammanpila’s statements.

“If there is no issue with the case against Udaya Gammanpila scheduled for March 27, he will be able to make some revelation,” Jayatissa said, responding to Gammanpila’s claim that he would disclose the alleged mastermind behind the 2019 Easter attacks by the end of the month.

Gammanpila further challenged Minister Nalinda Jayatissa to ensure that he is arrested on March 27 as claimed. (Newswire)
