The Anuradhapura Police has started an investigation to arrest a gang of six people who came to the house of a businessman who imports and distributes ready-made clothes in Anuradhapura as officers of the Criminal Investigation Department and brutally attacked the businessman and stole a car worth six million rupees and a mobile phone worth 49,000 rupees. The businessman had told the police that he had identified two people from the gang who broke into his house posing as officers of the Criminal Investigation Department.
The police say that there is a person named Ali and a person named Faheem and although the businessman knows them by name, the businessman does not know the specific information about their whereabouts. North Central Province Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Rajitha Daminda said that investigations are underway to identify these suspects and arrest them through phone network analysis.
