Gazette issued for prevention of African Swine Fever spread

An extraordinary  gazette notification has been issued declaring every Divisional Secretariat Division of Sri Lanka to be an infected area or suspected area for African Swine Fever (AFS) and Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS).

The Gazette notification, which outlines all preventive and containment measures, is effective for three months starting on 25 October 2024..

The African swine fever was initially reported for the first time in the Western Province and has now been detected in the Uva, Northern and North Western provinces as well.
