‘April Blooms 2024’, the highly anticipated flower show organised by the Municipal Council of Nuwara Eliya, showcased a dazzling array of colourful and innovative entries, despite facing numerous challenges. Among the standout participants, Grand Hotel emerged as a frontrunner, continuing its legacy of excellence.

Securing multiple first-place awards, Grand Hotel distinguished itself in various categories, including Best Garden, Lawn and Fences & Hedges, as well as Best Collection of Potted Plants and Cut Flowers in the commercial large category.

Furthermore, the hotel received top honours for Floral Arrangement – Small scale in the Commercial category. Notably, Grand Hotel’s remarkable performance extended to the Cut Flower category, where it amassed an impressive total of 73 awards.

Grand Hotel Garden Manager S. Anbalagan said; “We are thrilled with this record-breaking achievement.” He also hinted at forthcoming plans to enhance the hotel’s flower garden, showcasing the dedication and skill of his team, renowned for their expertise in manicuring gardens to perfection.

The awards ceremony, held under the patronage of the Municipal Commissioner and former Mayors of Nuwara Eliya, took place at Victoria Park on April 21. The event attracted a large and enthusiastic crowd, celebrating the floral magnificence and the outstanding accomplishments of participants, particularly Grand Hotel.
