Twenty Six year old, D.M.Harshaka Kolitha Dissanayake, an old boy of Tissa Central College, Kalutara is a fine Cricketer and Up and coming Cricket Coach presently coaching the Cricket Team of Poramadulla Central School. Kolitha started his cricket career under the coaching of Sumith, who was the Cricket coach at his School at the Under Fifteen Level in the year 1991. While he was an Under Fifteen player he scored Two centuries against Ananda Sastralaya,Kotte and Matugama. In the Division III Cricket tournament at the Under 17 level he showed his class as a bowler under the coaching of Ajith Weerakkody and claimed Five wickets against Aluthgama Vidyalaya as his Best Performance in bowling. He led the Under Seventeen Cricket team of the School as an Under Nineteen player and scored 102 runs as his highest score against Taxila Vidyalaya Horana under the coaching of Ajith de Silva and in the Year 1995 he captained the School Cricket team.
After his School career he joined the Municipal Cricket Club in Kalutara and played from 1995 to 1998 at the Division One Cricket tournament. From 1998 upto 1999 he played for the Tamil Union team but he did not impress After that he went to Bahrain and from 1999 to 2000 he played Cricket and became ‘Best Batsman’ for Scoring Three centuries and ‘Best Bowler’ for bagging 3 Five wickets haul. In coaching in the year 1996 he followed a Coaching Course under W.A.N. Silva, Veteran Cricket coach, organized by Kalutara Cricket Club. After this he started his own Cricket Academy and in the meantime coached Sri Sumangala School,Kandy Under Thirteen and Under Fifteen Cricket teams.
Kolitha became a Level One Cricket coach in 2020 under the coaching of Amila Pinnaduwa, the Provincial Cricket Coach. Presently he is coaching at Poramadulla National School as the Head
Cricket coach. His intention is to improve his Cricket Academy as well as to make the first eleven Cricket team of the School to come to a higher standard.
