Head on bus collision kills driver, eight injured in Bataleeya

Nittambuwa Police said that a driver was killed and eight passengers were injured in a head-on collision between two buses at Bataleeya-Kajugama on the Colombo-Kandy road on Tuesday (29) night.

A CTB bus travelling from Kattankudy to Colombo and an office transport bus from Narahenpita to Danovita was involved in the accident. The bus which was transporting the employees was crushed and the driver was killed. Police had to work hard to pull the driver out of the wreckage. Police say that the deceased driver is a resident of Kamburadeniya area.The injured persons were admitted to Warakapola and Wathupitiwala hospitals.

Due to this accident, traffic on the Colombo road was also disrupted. Police took steps to remove the obstacles and restore the traffic. The driver of the CTB bus has been arrested by Police.

The autopsy of the deceased was scheduled to be held at Wathupitiwala Hospital. Nittambuwa Police is conducting further investigations.
