Sri Lanka Customs authorities apprehended 10.5 kilograms of heroin worth Rs.270 million on Tuesday (21), Customs Director Seevali Arukgoda said.
This heroin stock was brought into Sri Lanka as eight parcels, by concealing them within a stock of towels.
This arrived in Sri Lanka from the Oman Airlines flight bearing number WY-371 on November 11 and it was emplaned from Lahore, Pakistan by a goods import business registered at an address in Thihariya in Nittambuwa.Arukgoda said that the 43-year-old importer who came to collect the parcels from the Customs and two clearing agents were arrested along with the heroin stock.
The suspects and the stock of heroin were handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.
