Hooch racket busted

Dodangoda Police succeeded in raiding an illegal liquor brewing place which was run in the back of a house in the Dodangoda Malabada area, on December 13 night, based on a tip-off.

Police said that a couple living in this house were involved in the manufacture of illegal alcohol.

Five hundred and twenty five millilitres of hooch was found and many gas cylinders and equipment were taken into custody by the Police.

The hooch produced at this place was distributed in the Payagala and Halkadavila areas.

The man (37) who was involved in the production of illegal alcohol was arrested by the Dodangoda Police. The suspect is to be produced before the Matugama Magistrate’s Court.
